SKIP Initiatives

In 2009, SKIP, Inc. celebrated 30 years of serving the special needs of children whose parents are incarcerated.

SKIP's approach is comprehensive and involves the child(ren) and their caregiver.  It is our hope to increase public awareness through efforts that will address the issues and concerns of children of prisoners and their caregivers.

Children of incarcerated parents possess unique needs and have gone unrecognized for far too long.  They are often times Stigmatized, Traumatized, Ostracized, and Penalized for what their parent(s) might have done.

It is our goal to help STOP the cycle of incarceration and assist children and their caregivers by:

  • providing programs and services such as education and social enrichment, mentoring and family referral services for children and their caregivers Learn more...

  • advocating on behalf of SKIP children in efforts to increase public awareness of the underlying problems of these children as victims.  Learn more...
